Apple-Cheddar Crumb Pie

- 2/3 cup sugar
- 3 tbsp. flour
- 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- Dash of ground nutmeg
- 6 to 8 tart apples, pared, cored and sliced (6 cups) Recommend Granny Smith!
- 1 cup shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 9" unbaked pastry shell
Combine
first 4 ingredients. Sprinkle over apples and stir. Spread half the
apples in the pie shell. Sprinkle the cheese over the apples, and
then add the remaining apples.
TOPPING:
- 1/2 lb. butter (1 stick)
- 1 cup all‑purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
Combine
flour and sugar. Cut in butter till crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.
Bake at 400
F for 45-50 minutes. If pie browns too quickly, cover edges with foil.
